November 16, 2025: Torbay ATV Ride & Boil-up (10 Photos)

After a very slack summer with regards to outdoor adventures, this past weekend I took advantage of some free time lining up with good weather. I loaded up Project Foreman and headed out for a quick ATV ride & boil-up leaving from our house in Torbay.

We experienced a crazy dry summer these past few months, conditions were so dry that a number of large and devastating wildfires lit up all across the island. For a time ATV's were banned from forested areas, and when the ban lifted many people left their machines parked until conditions notably improved.

Dry conditions continued through most of October but recently we've been receiving a lot of rainfall which has been greatly appreciated by all!

Water levels in ponds, brooks, gullies and bogs have seen major improvement and return to normalcy. However many water reservoirs across the island are still at historical low conditions as the land absorbs rainfall before it can collect in these waterways.

Today's ride was uncomplicated and just plain enjoyable. Its been a few months since my last ride and I enjoy seeing how trail conditions have changed all without getting too tangly.

With that said, the main goal of today's adventure was to have a boil-up, something I haven't done in way too long. I fired up my CS 2500 mini chainsaw to cut a few dry sticks for a campfire and to boil my Kelly Kettle.

The menu today was nothing fancy, it's not always about cooking an epic meal outdoors, but just getting out and cooking something/anything and enjoy the experience. Today I boiled the kettle to make coffee in my GSI Commuter java press and a pack of Mr. Noodles fancied up with a tin of Vienna Sausages.

I truly enjoyed my afternoon in the woods, it's awesome to cook up a fancy feed or arrange an extravagant ride to a new destination, but sometimes all you need is a simple outing to clear your mind. Appreciate the little things in life!

Cheers, MIKE
